If you are looking for ways to take a unique approach to your short film, or perhaps integrate your love for drawing and/or digital media, consider incorporating self-created animations!

Maybe you have a lot of experience creating animations already. If so, that is amazing (and we can’t wait to see what you create)! But maybe you have never made an animation before, or maybe you have never even considered it as a possibility for yourself. If that sounds like you, this video is a great place to start: before playing around with the actual creation process, it’s helpful to learn about some guiding principles that many animators follow.  

You certainly are not “required" to follow all of these principles in your animation — especially if it’s your first time trying out the process — but there are a lot of useful tips you can try out, if they sound interesting!

If you have access to an iPad, that is one way to create your own animations. There are several apps available. Here are some of the most recommended:
